All right, I can't take this anymore. I've been home alone for nearly a week and I need to get out of here. I don't know where I'm going, and I don't know how long I'll stay, but give me a call if you want to come with.

*le SIGH* @ 03:50 pm

Feeling: gloomy gloomy

I've been feeling so...listless, lately. I don't think I'll be working at camp again - I sent in an application, but it was so late in the year they'd probably hired everyone they intended to by then (I haven't heard back yet) - and the prospect of an entire summer with nothing to do is a daunting one.

Lee's in Australia right now. I suppose I could go somewhere, too, I've got a good bit of money saved up, but...meh. I just can't get excited about the idea.

This is probably just a melancholy mood brought about by the recent spat of cold drizzly weather, and no doubt tomorrow I'll be back to my usual cheerful self and manic energy. But right now I'm a little down. Cheer me up, friends?

If I had a pony, I'd ride him on my boat. @ 03:25 pm

Feeling: chipper chipper
Listening to: Lyle Lovett - If I Had a Boat

I HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY. In list form, 'cause I'm just like that.

1. I've been alive now for two decades. (And two days.) I'm a little boggled.

2. How amazing is this? OH VERY.

3. This is a blank Sudoku puzzle, and its solution.Collapse )

And I wrote the code that solved it. Booyeah.

And that was the first 100 I've made on a CS 140 lab, which is both terribly exciting ('cause yay! I earned all the possible points!) and kind of sad (since it hasn't happend in the five labs before this one :( ).

4. Ultimate sectionals this weekend (first in the official UPA championship series), so of course I had to fall off my bike last Monday and hurt my wrist. :( I REALLY hope it's better by Saturday so I don't have to play left-handed...

5. I don't have to live in a dorm next year! I lucked out big time and was offered a room in the apartment two of my Ultimate friends are renting. It's the most fabulous place EVER (they have a fireplace! no joke!) and the rent (including utilities) is only about $250/month, which means I'll actually be earning money by not forking over a chunk of my scholarships to UT housing. I am SO, SO excited about this.

(And they have a garden and a washer & dryer and cable internet and a wireless router and a dishwasher and they recycle and compost and store their bikes in the living room and I cannot wait to live there.)

6. I'm eating cake (chocolate with cream cheese icing) and drinking Jones Soda (Orange & Cream flavor with a bridge on the lable) and life is pretty spectacular.

My Spanish book has a picture of olive oil and it looks like there's a straw in it. @ 10:57 pm

Feeling: listless coded out
Listening to: Daniel Powter - Free Loop

I have been coding, quite literally, all weekend long. On Saturday, from six AM to five-thirtyish, I slogged through a program to read in a database of names and phone numbers in such a way that a particular entry could be found without having to search through the entire list. After five-thirtyish I had dinner with Eric and Nick, then we went to Nick's dorm and beat our heads against the CS 160 lab (bitwise multiplication and addition of floating-point numbers) for about five more hours.

This morning at ten, the relentless barrage of C programming language continued. I had a Eureka moment, scrapped everything I'd done previously, and started over on the 160 program. It was mostly done by three, when I went to the computer lab to help out Eric and Nick and finish commenting all my code, but I ended up staying there for a good five hours anyway. It was cool though, we went over the homework and Nick brought food.

I believe the 160 lab I finished today was the first C program of the semester that I've submitted both on time and fully complete. I deserve a cookie.

I AM STILL ALIVE! @ 11:32 pm

Feeling: sleepy sleepy
Listening to: nada

I have my first CS 140 test tomorrow and a big chunk of code due Friday, so naturally I'm updating my online journal. ("Priorities"? What does this word mean?) Nothing much of note has happened since WE FREAKING WON THE TUSCALOOSA TOURNAMENT, except we did go to another tournament (Mudbowl, in Talladega) and nearly froze to death and died of hypothermia (yes, both) since it was so very very cold and raining on Saturday. We didn't do terribly well in terms of actually winning games (3 for 7 I think was the final count) and we missed all the Knoxville snow, which was sad. :(

La la la, I should go to bed.

January 29th, 2006

WOO-HOO!!! @ 11:37 pm

Feeling: bouncy holy HELL YES!!

7 for 7, baby!

UTK women dominated T-Town Throw Down! We kicked all kinds of butt and won every game we played which is apparently a new record. And we got a shiny trophy and I ended up with a free disc, so that was spectacular. Party's at the Sun Spot on the Strip, tomorrow at 7:00, if any of you are in the area and want to stop by and congratulate us. :)

I got sunburned and I smell bad and my legs are literally covered in dried mud (down to the ankles, there's a sharp line between dirty brown and pale white where my socks ended) and I'm going to take a shower and collapse into bed. Good Night.

P.S. Seven for seven! Seven for seven! We played seven games, and we won all seven of them! We were undefeated! We lost to nobody! This is very exciting!

Listening to: Dad on the mandolin

Dad did various inexplicable things to my computer (one of which resulted in the disappearence of the START bar and all my icons) and found a virus and cleaned it up, so now it works better. Hurrah. ALSO, yesterday was the camp staff party at the GS center which was FAB, the new director fed us pizza and talked a lot and was short. She seems pretty cool, next summer should be fun. And I got to see Phoenix and Tikibird and Rayne and Barrel and Sunflower (again) and Panda (also again) and Flame and Jupiter from Holloway and Giggles and Smiley Bear and Brassy (again again) and Veggie and Dino (also again times two)!! Then I tried to follow Veggie (and Dino, Barrel, and Rayne) to Opry Mills for movie time but she got us all SO LOST and pulled an illegal U-turn which I had to yell at her about (cell phones are good for that, she probably heard me even though I was technically talking to Dino) and ran a stop sign and apparently almost got smashed by an eighteen-wheeler because she CANNOT DRIVE. But we eventually made it there alive and ended up not watching a movie at all but just hanging out which was more fun anyway, and didn't cost anything. And Sport was there, which was great, I don't get to see her enough anymore since I dropped Architecture.

And that's all the news, folks.

:'( @ 07:35 pm

Feeling: sad UTTERLY WOEFUL.
Listening to: Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

I just got the most depressing news ever, guys. The teacher who has Mrs. Roger's room now painted over the walls. No more personalized bricks. No more Grendel in a santa hat or dressed up for Talk Like a Pirate Day. I think I might cry. *sniffle*

Covering all the bases @ 05:05 pm

Feeling: full full of Christmas leftovers

So I hope everyone had/will have/is having a merry/happy/blessed/joyous/damn good Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Solstice/Dies Natalis Solis Invicti/Atheist Children Get Presents Day! My Christmas was wonderful and one of my presents was a Real Live Non-Archaic Cell Phone which has not even been smashed in my backpack yet (knock on wood) so I will soon be able to call any of you at any time for any reason! Except not yet, because "due to the increase in Holiday volume" the Tracfone website won't let me activate my phone. :(

Now, friends, I must be off, because apparently there is a new shoebox_project entry and this is OMG SO EXCITING.

December 17th, 2005

WHAT-WHAT-WHAT?!? @ 01:30 am

Feeling: ecstatic thrilled!

Holy wow! Six user pictures! Six! For free accounts! It's like Christmas came early!

And I can't remember why I originally intended to post! I'm just that excited!

Today is a day for exclamation points!

Today I spent six hours reading The Odyssey in preparation for an exam that took all of thirty minutes to complete. But whatever, it's over, I think I did fairly well, and I refuse to dwell on it anymore.

December 13th, 2005

Zzzz... @ 02:41 pm

Feeling: discontent discontent

I don't know if I'm ill or just really lazy, but I've slept more in the past week than I have since a month and a half ago. The only time I woke up earlier than one in the afternoon was yesterday when I had an exam at 8:00. I guess it's good that I'm catching up on sleep and all, but...jeez, I feel so useless when I sleep through half the day.

December 6th, 2005

Hey, why not. @ 07:02 am

Feeling: moody
Listening to: The Raveonettes - Love in a Trashcan

I have a great idea. Let's all quit school and join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Because is there anyone who doesn't want to be a Mountie? I thought not.

*snore* @ 03:50 am

Feeling: sleepy *yawn*

Because I have nothing better to do a paper on artificial intelligence to avoid...

November 30th, 2005

Feeling: cranky

So I haven't updated in a while, and all I have is unpleasant news. :( Like...Sunday when I was driving home from my grandpa's farm in Ohio I got my first-ever speeding ticket. That was not much fun and now I don't have a flawless driving record anymore, which sucks.

Then today when I was juggling I got bashed in the eye with the end of a club. (I also got bashed on the fingers, arms, shoulder, and head, but the eye hurts the most.) It didn't technically hit me directly on the eyeball, but only because I was wearing a contact lens over it, which got knocked out. But I caught it, and I can still see out of the eye as well as I could pre-club, so it doesn't look like there's any permanent damage.

I tried to come up with some good news to make this post not so depressing but all I could think of is the fact that in one week the semester will be over. But that just means exams are soon, which is not terribly cheerful.

Bah humbug.

No worries.
